Did you know Venus and Serena Williams once trained with pro-boxers?

About ten years ago, in 2012, a documentary on the renowned Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, was released. The documentary followed their road to becoming one of the finest tennis players ever seen. Also, their father and other coaches actively participated in the documentary, and discussed how they helped develop the legendary sisters.

However, in that sports documentary, there was a moment when the seven-time Grand Slam champion talked about her father’s unorthodox training methods. The 42-year-old said, “I remember he said boxers has the best feet, and we needed a faster foot so…”

Further, even Williams’ sister’s childhood coach shared his take on training with boxers. Rick Macci added that “We even had a professional boxer in a sand pit going every day. If they didn’t move, they would get popped.”

Last year, the former world number 18 appeared in a podcast show called Play to Potential Podcast and talked about what made King Richard unique as a tennis father who helped his daughters become who they are today.
