Poole spent the first four years of his NBA career with the Warriors after being picked with the No. 28 overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft before being dealt to the Wizards this summer as part of the Chris Paul trade.
Poole has averaging 17.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in his first season in Washington, which is somewhat down than the 20.4 ppg he averaged in his final season in Golden State.
The 24-year-old, who won an NBA Championship with the Warriors in 2022, was able to outperform this year’s average by scoring 25 points in the defeat.
Poole was honored with a pregame video tribute and received a standing ovation from the San Francisco fans.
He then opened the game with an 18-foot shot from the left wing before being booed each time he went to the free-throw line.
Despite Poole’s arrival to the squad, the Wizards have failed to find any success in the early stages of the season, as their record now stands at a dismal 5-23.
The only teams with lower records than the Wizards are the Detroit Pistons (2-26) and the San Antonio Spurs (4-23).
Golden State, on the other hand, moved to.500 on the season with the victory, improving their record to 14-14.
Curry had another good game for the Warriors, finishing with 30 points, seven assists, and four rebounds.
Klay Thompson and Johnathan Kuminga both finished with 20 and 22 points, respectively.
