“Alright, we are having a wild and free day in the garden,” the tennis icon said in a video on her Instagram Stories

Serena Williams is feeling inspired in the kitchen!
On Sunday, March 9, the retired tennis great, 43, shared that she was making a homemade dish with ingredients from her garden after watching Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show With Love, Meghan, in which the Duchess of Sussex shares her love for cooking, gardening and hosting.
Williams posted on her Instagram Stories that she was watching the show, which debuted on March 4 and will release a second season later this year. About two hours later, the mother of two shared a follow-up video that showed her gathering produce from her luscious garden.
“Alright, we are having a wild and free day in the garden,” she told the camera, wearing a bright orange matching set with her long locks in waves down her back. “I am fresh-picking some more moringa because I want to cook it.”

Williams continued, “I have a ton of moringa at home, but it’s all dry. I want to actually make it fresh, because I was reading that you can cook it and eat it like spinach,” adding that the nutritious plant can be pan-seared or boiled. “I would pan sear it for just a fresh second or two, maybe like a minute, and then I would eat it. I will let you know how that turns out.”
The tennis icon added, “We’re wild today, loud and crazy.”

The day prior, she shared a video of herself making gumbo with her oldest daughter Olympia, 6, whom she shares with husband, Alexis Ohanian. The two also have an 18-month-old named Adira.
“Bet you didn’t know I love cooking,” Williams captioned the Instagram video. “Here is me teaching @olympiaohanian my gumbo recipe.”
On March 4, Williams shared the poster for Markle’s show on Instagram with an emotional caption encouraging people to tune in.
“I’m so excited for you to check out ‘WITH LOVE, MEGHAN,’ now streaming exclusively on Netflix! Join my wonderful friend @meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, as she opens up her world and shares her personal tips for the kitchen, garden, and so much more,” she wrote. “It’s a fun and inspiring series that reminds us all how easy it is to bring a little beauty into our everyday lives, even when we least expect it. Can’t wait for you to experience it!”

Earlier in the month, Markle shared adorable footage of her daughter Princess Lilibet spending time with her “auntie,” Williams, at home as they celebrated the launch of her Netflix show.
In Meghan’s Instagram Stories, Lilibet was seen dressed in a cute pink top and floral-printed leggings as she stood next to Williams, who was clapping, and the pair appeared to be playing a personalized Candy Land board game on a coffee table.
“When the aunties comes to celebrate … and to play! Love you @serenawilliam,” Meghan wrote in a message over the clip as the song “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers played over the top. =
The two have been close friends since they met at the Super Bowl in 2010. They were last seen in public together as they watched their friend Tyler Perry being honored at the Paley Honors Fall Gala in December 2024.
