Ohanian embraces the anime trend adding to a growing legacy of ‘dad moments’
Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder and husband of tennis icon Serena Williams, has officially joined the viral Studio Ghibli artwork craze by reimagining special memories with his daughter Olympia in anime-inspired portraits.
Ohanian shared the images on social media this week, turning their September 2024 appearance at the Athlos track and field event in New York City into magical, hand-drawn-style moments.
Posting on X on April 1, he captioned three Ghibli-themed photos of himself and Olympia with the words: “Late, I know, but how cute.” The images captured joyful scenes from the Icahn Stadium outing, where Olympians like Gabby Thomas and Faith Kipyegon competed – and where Olympia made headlines herself by dancing playfully alongside her dad.
Ohanian, never one to miss a social trend or an opportunity to connect with his daughters, also revisited the experience on his Instagram story, adding to the sense that he wanted to preserve and celebrate those precious memories in every possible way.
While the Ghibli portraits have charmed the internet, they’re just one example of Ohanian‘s consistent and creative devotion to his role as a father.
Fresh off a trip to Texas to watch Anavia Battle sprint to victory in a 100-meter dash, Ohanian returned home with thoughtful gifts. Olympia received a pair of brown, floral-stitched vintage cowgirl boots.
“Had to get for @olympiaohanian before I left,” he shared. Her younger sister, Adira, was treated to Texas-style brisket.
True to his #PapaPancakes tradition, Ohanian commemorated the gift by cooking boot-shaped pancakes the following Sunday.
“Busy weekend! Day-trip for Austin Relays and a pair of boots for my big cowgirl,” he posted on March 31. “Also #PapaPancakes back in the weekend photo dump rotation.”
Weekends in the Ohanian household also include golfing with three generations.
In one Instagram post, Alexis shared snaps from the course with Olympia and his father, Chris Ohanian, writing, “Another day on the course with the fam ,” and later adding on X: “Sundays are for family. And golf.”

Olympia, often seen swinging clubs almost too small for her now, continues to hone her golf skills. Her clubs, a gift from Tiger Woods, are due for an upgrade.
“This Daddy Caddy needs to get her some new clubs soon cuz she’s growing out of the gift from Uncle Tiger,” Ohanian wrote. “Can’t wait to take her to her first @tglgolf match this January.”
Whether he’s on pancake duty or dressing his daughter in cowgirl boots, Alexis Ohanian‘s approach to fatherhood blends creativity, care, and community. And now-with a touch of Ghibli magic-he’s made those moments even more memorable.
