“I was worried that Nadal might quit before me. There were signs that Rafa was unwell and that he wouldn’t last that long. I didn’t think I could play beyond the age of 37 or 38, and the same goes for him, but then he finds himself in a place where he starts to feel better. But yes, I was worried that Rafa might leave and, in fact, I thought that he would leave after beating Medvedev, in the 2022 Australian Open final.  thought maybe he would do it there or at Roland Garros.
