Jenna Ortega may not want to do the Wednesday dance anymore, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to leave the character behind entirely in between filming the Netflix series. In fact, Jenna said that Wednesday got her goth-inspired clutches deep into her personal wardrobe and she’s found herself dressing a lot like her onscreen counterpart.
“I do think that Wednesday changed my taste a lot. I have a hard time getting her off of me, at least clothing-wise,” Jenna shared in a new interview. “It’s also something that I’ve always wanted to do. I just never felt like I could. I feel like there were always a lot of voices and opinions that I used to place too much value in.”
One such Wednesday-inspired look is the Versace corpse bride gown and veil that Jenna wore to the Wednesday premiere in late 2022. “The Versace dress was definitely something that we were planning in terms of, OK, how do we make this gothic, but not doing too much or trying too hard? And the veil was perfectly teetering on the edge of that,” she explained. “So it was really fun for me.”
Jenna’s style has changed quite a bit over the years, which is only natural considering she was in her early teens when she started working in Hollywood. The actor has been working with stylist Enrique Melendez for many years, and the pair have evolved her look in a natural, organic way. Young Jenna wore lots of bright colors and mod miniskirts, while she now gravitates towards sleeker styles and menswear-inspired pieces in a palette of — you guessed it — black and white.
While Jenna is not actually Wednesday, it’s fun to see how fiction and fashion come together to inspire our favorite stars’ red carpet looks.
