Kobe Bryant called Taylor Swift “sweet” in an old interview that has come back to light as Vanessa and her daughters go to an L.A. show.
Vanessa Bryant took their daughters Bianka and Natalia to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Los Angeles on Thursday night. In a 2019 interview that recently emerged, Bryant gushed about how long Swift has been making music.
“I think it’s important to listen to people who do great things,” Kobe said in 2019 on The Jordan Harbinger Show.
That summer, Swift put out her seventh studio album, Lover. It was her sixth record in a row to enter the charts at number one.
“You can’t have that level of consistent success and not be a ,” Kobe said. “It can’t be done.”
Kobe said that he basically studied Swift’s success by asking himself questions like, “How does she write?” and “How does she get into that mentаl space to be able to create things over and over again?”
“It’s not just about the genre, but Taylor has been at the top for a very, very long time. Why and how?”
Fans of the five-time NBA champion knew that he was driven by his “Mamba Mentality”—a level of focus and discipline that Kobe saw in Swift. “It’s a lot of pressure for her to follow up a No. 1 album with a better album and then follow that up with a better album,” he said.
“If you don’t like her music, I don’t care. “Take a look at what she’s doing,” he said. “I can’t believe you can do that over and over and over again. So, I try to learn as much as I can from it.”
Swift is an artist whose work Kobe likes, but he also feels like he knows her because of his children. “She is a nice child. Before she became Taylor Swift, she was a nice person to my girls.
The former Laker really liked how kind the famous singer was to his girls. “If she ever needs something, I’m always there.”
Clips of the resurfaced interview went viral after fans were moved by the emotional moment Swift shared with Kobe’s family during the Eras Tour on Thursday, her first of six nights starring at SoFi Stadium.
The 41-year-old mother of four shared a sweet picture on Instagram of her hugging 6-year-old Bianka on the edge of the stage as she sang “22.”
Vanessa wrote on her post, “We love you, @taylorswift.”
The singer then put her black bowler “22” hat on Bianka’s head, kissed her cheek, hugged her, and pointed to her when she got back up to sing, according to a video shared by a fan and Pop Crave on Twitter (now known as X).
Vanessa is also the mother of Capri Kobe, who is 4 years old, and the late Gianna Maria-Onore.
