Many Suns supporters believe Ayton’s potential is unrealized, yet he looks like a different player while playing for the Bahamas national team. A contributing factor could be that the 25-year-old pivot is at home in this particular setting.
Some may interpret Deandre Ayton’s comments about playing with his Bahamian teammates as a dig at his Suns teammates after he spoke to the media following the Bahamas’ 82-75 victory over Argentina, which moved them closer to qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.I’ve never had better teammates, both on and off the court. Ayton is undoubtedly enjoying the benefits of competing with like-minded individuals while also playing for the glory of his native country as a member of the national squad. Furthermore, as Ayton would tell, it is usually simpler to form relationships with people you already have something in common with.
With the NBA’s ever-changing rosters, it’s also tough for players like Deandre Ayton to bond as closely with his Suns colleagues as he has with his Bahamian counterparts. From Ayton’s freshman season, only Devin Booker remained on the squad. Don’t read anything into Deandre Ayton’s recent comments that would indicate chemistry concerns with the Suns.
