David de Gea has demonstrated time and again that he is among the very best in his field, and as a result, Manchester United Football Club has been in good hands for the past ten years.

When it comes time to renegotiate the superstar Spaniard’s contract with United, the club will most likely ask him to take a wage reduction in order to keep him.

Yet, there are long-term plans in place to eventually move on from the Spaniard and likely bring in someone who is a better fit for the Erik ten Hag style of play. These preparations have been in place for some time. Enter, Illan Meslier.

According to The Sun, which broke the story, Manchester United are allegedly “already looking at” the goalkeeper who plays for Leeds United and is 22 years old in order to find a long-term replacement for David de Gea.

Despite the fαct that contract negotiations are now taking place with De Gea, United still wants to find the guy who will take over after the Spaniard.

Although it has been said that United are willing to wait until there is a starting berth on offer for Meslier, the scenario has the potential to become more complicated this summer, particularly if Leeds United are relegated.

If this is the case, the Reds will need to act quickly in order to sign Meslier in order to prevent the French player from perhaps transferring to a team that is a direct rivαl of theirs.

In the current state of affairs, Leeds is one of the three teams that are in the cellar, despite the fαct that it’s a dogfight at the bottom and they do have a talented group of players.

I have a feeling that Leeds United would rather sell a player to any other club in the world than to the Old Trafford club because he is a good shot-stopper who would be a vital asset to any team that likes to play out from the back.
