Thor24: Incredibly Expensive $12 Million Custom Semi-Truck

In a world captivated by electric semi-trucks such as those produced by Freightliner and Tesla, an incredible transaction has taken place, capturing the attention of enthusiasts and experts alike. This extraordinary event involved the sale of Thor24, a custom Peterbilt crew cab tractor, for a staggering $12 million, solidifying its status as the ultimate guzzler.

The mastermind behind Thor24 is none other than real estate and hospitality tycoon Mike Harrah. This imposing vehicle is equipped with two V12 Detroit Diesel engines, each boasting 12 superchargers, resulting in a breathtaking combined output of 3,974 horsepower. Harrah’s inspiration for this engineering marvel stems from the legendary four-engine “Showboat” dragster driven by racing icon Tommy Ivo in the 1960s.

Power emanating from Thor24 is skillfully transferred to the wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, propelling the truck to a top speed of 130 mph. To ensure safety at such high velocities, four drag racing parachutes are thoughtfully incorporated into the design, positioned on the rear bumper to aid in deceleration. Such measures are essential for a vehicle of Thor24’s colossal weight, tipping the scales at a staggering 30,000 pounds.

Despite its awe-inspiring performance, what sets Thor24 apart is its street-legal status. The truck’s interior is a testament to the harmonious blend of power and luxury. Adorned with a powerful 1,500-watt sound system and an impressive big screen TV, the cabin is a sanctuary of entertainment. These luxurious amenities are powered by a helicopter’s turbine auxiliary power unit, which also serves as the energy source for the truck’s decorative lights, adding an extra touch of grandeur.

The creation of this one-of-a-kind monster truck was a labor of love and ingenuity, demanding seven years of meticulous craftsmanship and an investment of $7 million. However, Harrah’s efforts were handsomely rewarded when he presented Thor24 at the prestigious Worldwide Auctioneers event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. An unidentified buyer recognized the extraordinary value encapsulated within this automotive masterpiece, submitting a winning bid of $12 million.

The sale of Thor24 not only underscores the timeless allure of powerful and custom-built vehicles but also serves as a testament to the increasing global demand for automotive works of art. As the automotive landscape evolves, with electric vehicles becoming more prevalent, Thor24 stands as a steadfast reminder that there will always be enthusiasts who appreciate and are willing to pay a premium for the magnitude of engineering prowess and sheer automotive excellence it represents.
