MU conceded a goal in the 5th minute away from home. After a corner kick, Elanga broke through alone from home. The former MU player passed Alejandro Garnacho and rushed straight into the middle of Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu, before firing a shot past Andre Onana.

Elanga’s solo goal was compared to Lionel Messi by many fans. One user on X commented: “Only MU can make Elanga look like Messi in his prime. It’s really bad”. Another fan also praised the Nottingham Forest striker: “Elanga is playing like Messi in his prime. I can’t believe this”.

Many fans also criticized MU’s decision to let Elanga go for only £10 million, while they spent £85 million to buy Antony. An account named Casey Evans commented: “They sold Elanga for £10 million to buy Antony for £85 million. Ridiculous!”. A fan named Luke also did not hesitate to criticize another MU player, Garnacho: “Do MU fans think Garnacho can be on par with Elanga at this time?”.

In the last 5 matches, Elanga scored 3 goals and contributed 2 assists for Forest. In the Premier League this season, the Swedish striker has 6 goals and 8 assists. He has become an important factor helping Forest rise to 3rd place in the Premier League rankings.

Elanga played for the MU first team for 3 seasons, scoring 4 goals in 55 appearances. He said goodbye to the “Red Devils” in the summer of 2023.

The loss to Forest left MU still stuck in the bottom half of the rankings with 37 points.
