At the event organized by FIFA, which has not yet been officially announced, people also saw famous American football player, Patrick Mahomes participating along with other famous figures, under the chairmanship of FIFA President, Mr. Gianni Infantino.

Patrick Mahomes is considered the Messi of American football. He plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. The two stars in these two football fields have met many times before and often praise each other. In particular, Patrick Mahomes is a big fan of the Sporting Kansas City club playing in the MLS (American professional football league), he often goes to the stadium to watch matches with Messi’s Inter Miami team.

At the beginning of the 2025 season, during the first round match of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, when the two teams met at Children’s Mercy Park, Patrick Mahomes came to watch and enjoy Messi scoring the only goal of the match. In return, Messi also came to watch Patrick Mahomes play in the 2025 Super Bowl final for the Kansas City Chiefs on February 10.

Messi and Patrick Mahomes participated in the promotional campaign for the 2026 World Cup, organized by FIFA together with its biggest sponsor for the tournament. Images of Messi at the event also made fans of the Argentine star happy, because they are sure he will participate in the 2026 World Cup.

Messi’s presence at the event raised the possibility that he will attend the 2026 World Cup.

So far, Messi has not confirmed his participation in the 2026 World Cup, although the Argentina team has already booked tickets to the United States, Mexico and Canada next summer to defend the championship.

According to former France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (now playing for Los Angeles FC): “I don’t think Argentina will not have Messi at the next World Cup. I think there will be Messi. He is still playing and enjoying football. It’s his decision, but of course we would love to see him at the World Cup again.”

Hugo Lloris and striker Olivier Giroud, are set to meet Messi on the pitch for the first time since the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, when they and their Los Angeles FC teammates take on Inter Miami in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals at 10:30 a.m. on April 3 (Vietnam time).
