The couple will celebrate a double anniversary next October: their fifth wedding anniversary and the second birthday of the youngest member of the family.
After becoming the star of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, where he lost in the quarter-finals of the doubles with Carlos Alcaraz, Rafa Nadal is enjoying a well-deserved and special holiday . And he is doing so in his beloved Balearic Islands, his home and his usual destination for sailing at this time of year. With his side, as it could not be otherwise, his wife, Mery Perelló, and his son, Rafa. Together with them, the tennis player, who is a great father, is enjoying not only the good weather, but also days on the water on the Ibizan coast, aboard his fabulous yacht, Great White, valued at around six million euros, which is like a second home for him and the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the world when he needs, above all, calm and relaxation.
This time, while deciding whether to continue with his impressive tennis career or retire definitively this year. “My goal was to continue until the Olympic Games and then decide. And that is what I will do. I need to go home to disconnect a little and, cool down, after a break, analyze things as I see them and feel them, to make one decision or another. I will make it when I have to make it, because I have total freedom and I have worked hard throughout my life to do it when I feel like it,” reflected the athlete from Manacor before leaving Paris, where he played a prominent role, forming part of the relay that carried the Olympic torch to the cauldron. His first big decision, which was pressed by time, was not to compete in the next US Open, a place of which he has wonderful memories, since he has won it on four occasions: “I will miss those electric and special night sessions in Ashe (the center), New York, but I don’t think I can give 100% this time. Thanks to all my fans in the United States, in particular. I will miss them and see them another time,” she announced on her social networks. She also revealed that she will return to the courts at the Laver Cup in Berlin, which will take place from 20 to 22 September.
The protagonist of the day
At his side, as always, his greatest support and respecting his times and decisions, he has his wife, with whom he sailed the Mediterranean waters on a jet ski that he handled perfectly, and his son, who became the absolute protagonist of the aquatic day at almost two years old, who will turn 7 October. It is nothing new that Mery and Rafa Nadal are very family-oriented and, on this occasion, they once again demonstrated it by playing and pouring out affectionate gestures with the little one. In addition to celebrating the birthday of the youngest of the family soon, the couple also has another very special celebration, that of their fifth wedding anniversary. It is worth remembering that the tennis legend and the director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation were married on 19 October 2019 in Sa Fortaleza, a 17th century castle, in the north of their native Mallorca and in front of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.
