Giorgetto Giugiaro was truly a man who didn’t miss, and the first generation Fiat Panda — launched at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show and penned within the newly-formed Italdesign — was absolutely no exception. The Panda (which was actually named after the Roman goddess Empanda) was designed to move the masses, being inexpensive, simple, and robust, but it quickly spawned multiple variants that perhaps went beyond what Giugiaro ever thought his economy car was capable of. From all-terrain four-wheel-drive warriors, to panel vans and beach cars, the Panda soon multiplied, diversified, and spread across the globe. It’s not surprising, then, that it wasn’t long before someone decided the Fiat Panda could do with a little more headroom…

That brings us to this glorious 1991 Fiat Panda Cabriolet, finished in the suave combination of an all-black exterior over a grey Alcantara interior. Fiat never offered a convertible version, making Panda Cabriolets extremely hard to find, especially with this level of fit and finish. This Panda was transformed and homologated by an Italian coachbuilder, while the previous owner decided to completely restore this glorious little Fiat. Now boasting new upholstery and paintwork, this Panda has also been treated to a rebuilt engine and refurbished mechanical components. A rollover bar has been added for extra structural rigidity and safety, but otherwise Giuiaro’s original recipe remains relatively unchanged.

Despite showing 127,464 km on the clock, this Panda appears to be in almost factory-fresh condition thanks to the restoration, and would be an unbeatable choice for anyone in need of a holiday runabout.
